Developing Future Talent in Digital Arts
First Nations Digital Arts Workshop
A collaboration is taking place this week between the We Wai Kum First Nation, Timberline School and the Campbell River Creative Industries Council to provide learning in the digital arts to the first nations youth.
“It’s a continuation of a program that we started in the spring, says teacher Dave Coad. The Campbell River Indian Band was looking for an opportunity for their youth and I was introduced to them though the CRCIC.”
During the week long workshops, students are introduced to computer game development, animation, scrapbooking and various digital arts programs.
“It’s a great example of creative partnerships” Joan Miller CRCIC Director commented, as the Band’s financial donation for the courses goes directly to support Timberlines Digital Arts Program. “It’s quite amazing to watch these future entrepreneurs working on developing interactive games and designing digital art pieces”.
